Ms. Morella Ocando is an Electrical Engineer with over 20 years of experience in the Electric Utility industry, specifically in Transmission & Distribution supervision, control and operation systems for  Control Centers. She has hands-on experience with assessing automation needs, maintenance, support and recommending solutions for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), SCADA/EMS/ADMS Network applications and support and maintenance. She is also experienced with electrical network modeling and analysis as well as translating clients’ business requirements into specific systems, applications or process design with an integrated architecture.

Relevant Experience

Ms. Ocando was the Deputy Project Manager for the following projects: Upgrade of the SCADA/EMS/ADMS/OMS/GIS for the Transmission and Distribution Control Center at ENELVEN and the Distribution Control Center at ENELCO both in Venezuela, including Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) and integration with SAP® CIS. She has worked in the development of business cases, procurement, system design and sizing, deployment, data migration, testing of the functionalities, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), commissioning and training of the dispatchers/users.

Additionally, during the development of projects above, Ms. Ocando worked on the functional requirements, technical specifications, evaluation, and selection process of the SCADA supplier during the bidding process. She has experience in the implementation of the selected systems through the System Development Life-Cycle, including database work, design of HMI and data migration, development and documentation of the functional and maintenance system, tracking solutions for unexpected results/behavior, and QA testing. She coordinated directly with multidisciplinary teams linking internal and provider's technical groups.
