Rick Saffarpour is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience, including more than 24 years as an electrical engineer specializing in the design, planning, and optimization of electric power distribution systems. He has successfully led complex projects and collaborated with diverse teams to develop tailored electrical engineering software for distribution system planning and analysis. Rick's expertise includes evaluating system requirements, identifying potential challenges, and delivering effective solutions.

Rick has a proven track record of working closely with electric utility companies to transfer grid data into GIS software applications and perform optimization and planning calculations. His areas of expertise include:

  • Distribution Network Optimization

  • Capacitor Placement Optimization

  • Load modeling and load forecasting

  • Planning and optimizing radial medium voltage systems.

  • Determining optimal locations, sizes, and service areas for distribution substations.

  • Planning the most efficient routes for distribution lines.

  • Utilizing GIS software to ease the distribution systems calculations.

  • Developing electrical system database and software applications for designing/optimizing electrical networks.

  • SCADA database analysis and reporting.
