Rick Saffarpour is an experienced professional with more than 34 years of experience, including over 24 years as an electrical engineer specializing in the design, planning, and optimization of electric power distribution systems. He has led complex technical projects and worked with multidisciplinary teams to develop software applications supporting distribution system planning, analysis, and operational improvement. His background includes evaluating system requirements, identifying technical challenges, and delivering practical engineering solutions.

​Mr. Saffarpour has extensive experience working closely with electric utility companies to transfer grid data into GIS software applications and perform optimization and planning calculations. His areas of expertise include:

• Distribution Network Optimization

• Capacitor Placement Optimization

• Load modeling and load forecasting

• Planning and optimizing radial medium voltage systems

• Determining optimal locations, sizes, and service areas for distribution substations

• Planning the most efficient routes for distribution lines

• Utilizing GIS software to ease the distribution systems calculations

• Developing electrical system databases and software applications for designing/optimizing electrical networks

• SCADA database analysis and reporting

In addition to his technical expertise, Mr. Saffarpour has developed analytical tools and applications that improve the efficiency and reliability of power distribution systems. His work includes optimization of switching locations, improving  for cost-benefit analysis of Smart Grid investments, development of tools outage performance metrics, and dashboard design to support data-driven decision-making for utility clients.
